Earlier detection of fast-replicating, living cancer cells requires a combination of improved biomarker assays and more powerful, gentler imaging modalities. At LOCI, we are developing multidimensional approaches that include combinations of the following modalities: optical sectioning, white light, second harmonic generation (SHG), multiphoton, optical scattering/OCT, enhanced backscatter imaging, ultrasound, MRI, and fluorescence lifetime to capture images of cells in their microenvironment in vivo.

In parallel, we develop software that automates larger field-of-view image capture and stitches individual images to form bigger, high-resolution images of a tissue sample.
